An Effective Numerical Simulation Method for Steam Injection Assisted In Situ Recovery of Oil Shale

This paper presents an effective numerical simulation method for production prediction of in situ recovery oil shale reservoirs with steam injection. In this method, finite volume-based discretization schemes heat and mass transfer equations the thermal compositional model are derived used. The embedded discrete fracture is used to accurately handle fractured vertical well. A smooth non-linear solver proposed solve global equations, then cell pressure, temperature, saturation, component mole fractions, well rates can be obtained. Compared existing commercial software, new have a smoother solution complex geometry theoretically. example test presented realize accurate calculation results compared CMG. Another case hydraulic open boundary condition implemented validate effectively actual situation injection-assisted shale, which was difficult using previous methods.
